From the time I became an active member of NCJW in 2000 after retiring from teaching, one of the projects that particularly caught my eye was the Jewish Youth Awards. As a result, I talked about it so much at home that my husband, Brand, suggested we sponsor it. Excited, we did that in 2006. We were so amazed with the essays the students wrote and the numerous community service hours the students talked about in their applications. We were happy we had the opportunity to contribute to these students’ college expenses in this meaningful way. Watching the co-chairs, Cathy Cantor and Jennifer LoPatin, and their committee work on this project added to my already experienced amazement of the efficient, capable, and caring NCJW women. It was a thrilling experience for us overall. Brand and I will not forget this project nor our participation with it, and we are so happy that it has grown and prospered with its new sponsors: Dina and Herman(z’l) Brodsky and Esther(z’l) and Nathan(z’l) Katz.
