BACKPACK PROJECT: My 8 years as Chair

Recipients: Oakland County Schools Homeless Program Jewish Family Services
Money Used: Grants Generous lowering of prices by Meijer
What We Did: Filled over 1,000 backpacks annually with paper, pencils, pens, notebooks, folders and much more making the backpacks very heavy. We invited the membership, their children, grandchildren and husbands to fill the bags. We purchased gift cards for teens with special clothing needs.
This project has been so appreciated by both the Oakland County Schools and Jewish Family Services. The program services children who have nothing. It has been a wonderful project in which our NCJW families can participate. It continues on with new leaders just as it was before and during my leadership.
