As a teenager, I felt a need to be an active member of a group that did mitzvahs. Councilettes was the answer. It was a group of warm, nurturing girls who also felt dedicated to the same ideals. Most of us were following in our mothers footsteps. Belonging to this group and following its goals filled me with a true sense of pride. Many years later, so many of our group have continued on the path and are active members of the mother group, National Council of Jewish Women.
