How a Birthday Gift of an NCJW Life Membership enriched my life

Over forty years ago my mother-in-law gave me a birthday gift of a Life Membership to NCJW. That gift began a journey of being involved with the brightest, progressive and wonderful women, along with being part of an organization that advocates to make the world a better place. Being the section President will always remain a highlight of my life. One incident during that time will remain forever in my memory. It was  the day of 9-11-2001, the most horrible day in American history, when 400 resilient women came together at our Opening Meeting at Congregation Sharrey Zedek. We embraced each other with tears, fear and the comfort of being together. With extra security, we were one of the only events in the whole area. Our speaker, Nina Totenberg of NPR had to stay here for an unexpected two days because of flight cancellations. Here is a picture of her the next day, along with myself and the Vice Presidents.
